Alberta Wide 2010: “Looking Forward”

The Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery are pleased to host the 31st Annual Alberta Wide exhibition from the Alberta Community Art Clubs Association. Three provincial zone shows provide the venues for artists in the surrounding regions to showcase their work. Pieces selected from these shows advance to Red Deer to be re-juried and selected for the Alberta Wide show. Awards winners are selected in several categories and additional paintings of merit are selected to complete the show.

Come out to see the ‘best of the best’ from across Alberta at the MAG this summer.

An exhibition from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts

Over the last four years the Alberta Foundation for the Arts has significantly increased its commitment to supporting the craft arts – particularly glass, ceramics and fibre. In 2007-2008, the AFA almost doubled its glass collection, eventually acquiring more than $90,000 of glass. This exhibition includes pieces by some of Alberta’s most established glass artists, pieces from some of the most exciting emerging artists, as well as some almost “historic’ pieces.

Gallery IS presents Susan Delaney's 'Fish Swim', a solo Show .
"I associate fish with the ultimate in mindful presence and here-ness. This work explores tensions between that way of being in the realms of the recognizable, the abstract, the symbolic and the actions of the artist on the canvas."
Opening reception: First Friday September 3 6 to 9pm. The artist will be in attendance.
