May 21 to June 3 at Wallace Galleries in Calgary
David Newkirk, "Shebang 5," 2014, acrylic on canvas, 60” x 48”.
David Newkirk strives to synthesize various modernist ideas with personal concerns and recent research on human memory in large abstract canvases. “I am interested in balancing the contradictions between orderly and expressive elements, methodical and intuitive processes, flat and implied three-dimensional space,” he says. This two-person exhibition also features work by Jennifer Hornyak.
