The Board of Governors of the Glenbow Museum is pleased to announce that Donna Livingstone has been appointed as the Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of the Glenbow. Donna Livingstone has a long history of successful leadership with arts and cultural organizations in Western Canada and is well regarded in the communities that Glenbow serves. She is currently the Director, Cultural and Community Programming with Libraries and Cultural Resources at the University of Calgary and has taken a leave of absence from her current position to serve as Interim President and CEO for the Glenbow. Donna has previously served with the Glenbow as Vice President, Program and Exhibit Development and as a Governor.
The Board of Governors believes the organization, with Donna’s leadership and management skills, has a unique opportunity to reset and refresh its place of significance in the arts and culture community. Glenbow is committed to initiating new ways of delivering programs and services to assure financial sustainability for future generations of Albertans. It also looks forward to revitalizing its relationships with staff, funders, and other key supporters in the community, and to strengthening collaborations with other arts and cultural organizations to ensure its leadership position as a cultural cornerstone for the Province.
To do that it needs leadership that is experienced and comfortable with the type of organizational change required to embrace new potential opportunities and to re-engage core constituencies in the pursuit of those opportunities. The Glenbow believes passionately in its vision of more people interacting with art, culture and ideas more often, and looks forward to working with Donna in realizing these goals.
After 19 years of service to the Glenbow, including four as its President and CEO, Kirstin Evenden has resigned her position to pursue new avenues in her career. Kirstin’s accomplishments during her tenure as President and CEO include the development of the Glenbow’s Strategic Plan in 2010. Glenbow’s management and structure have evolved during Kirstin’s role as President and CEO and her knowledge of the Glenbow and its various areas of operation has contributed to this evolution. The Board of Governors of the Glenbow thanks Kirstin for her many contributions over the years and wishes her the very best in the future.
We thank the Province of Alberta, the City of Calgary and all of our partners, donors, members and other supporters for their continued support. We also thank the Glenbow staff, management, and volunteers for their continued work with and contributions to the Glenbow, and for the richness and variety of experiences they continue to provide the Glenbow’s audiences through their efforts.
