Nicholas Purcell, “Copperplate,” Low-sitting coffee table made from Macassar Ebony and Swiss Pear with a copper base and a copper plate which can be positioned anywhere along the top of the table, 60” x 22” x 13”h.
Nicholas Purcell is a North Shore artist, furniture maker and designer with amazing skills and beautiful work. The show, Reflections on Typography, is made up of nine gorgeously crafted pieces influenced by the lost art of letterpress and type. One of his pieces is inspired by Malala Yousafzai, the fifteen year old girl in Pakistan who was a victim of extreme violence, and now stands as an advocate for access to education for girls in Pakistan. A portion of the money from the sale of the piece will be donated to Ratanak International, which is a local organization supporting children through various projects. (http://www.ratanak.org/).
