Arts Commons Presents brings a new media art sound installation to the +15 hallway that runs from January 8 - February 26, 2018 – 11:13 (Hypnagogia) by Calgary-based synthesizer duo SH-2000, comprised of musicians Barnaby Bennett & Patrick Whitten.
The +15 Soundscape in Arts Commons creates an immersive audio experience. Hypnagogia is designed to create a calming environment that mimics the transitory state of consciousness that we experience as we fall asleep.
“In the ever-increasing hustle and bustle of modern life, it seems exceedingly easy to get caught up in a plethora of distractions,” says SH-2000. “This piece is an antithesisis to the digital world, which we hope allows you to take a moment of repose to bathe in a cascade of ever-flowing analogue sounds.”
SH-2000 has performed at a number of Alberta music festivals including Noise Daze in Calgary, Endless Bummer in Edmonton and Sled Island 2015 in Calgary as a part of Miles Cooper Seaton’s (member of Akron/Family) two-hour group drone ensemble which was curated by Wreck City.
The Arts Commons +15 Soundscape is a unique multichannel sound system that provides sound art opportunities to local and national sound artists, which is available for passersby to freely experience.
