2019 Campus Art Rotation
View works from The University of Winnipeg Art Collection!
Weekdays from June 10 to June 26 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.Gallery 1C03, 1st floor of Centennial Hall The University of Winnipeg
The University of Winnipeg is pleased to be the caretaker of more than 1,000 works of art by over 250 artists. The University's art collection primarily consists of pieces created over the last century by recognized Canadian artists, with a particular focus on the work of Manitoba artists.
It is the University's practice to loan some of these artworks to spaces on campus for public display in departmental areas and administrative offices on a rotational basis to promote opportunities for exposure to art.
The campus art rotations have been undertaken approximately every three years, with the last major rotation having occurred in 2016. This practice ensures that not only are more members of the University community able to enjoy the art but, also importantly, that the artworks get a “rest” from whatever environmental pressures exist in any one location that might adversely affect their physical quality. Artworks are turned in and campus borrowers may choose other artworks from the rotation pool.
The University community and the public are welcome to view many of the works on rotation in Gallery 1C03 from June 10 to June 26 on weekday afternoons from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. The University's faculty and staff are invited to request new works for their spaces.
