Alberta Printmakers (A/P) is excited to announce that we will be taking part in Alberta Culture Days 2018 by hosting 2 separate events during the Alberta Culture Days weekend.
PRINT IT YOURSELF FESTIVAL
Saturday, September 29 from 11am - 4pm
A/P Gallery and Studio - 4025 4th St. SE, Calgary
Drop in any time during this open-studio event at A/P to try various printmaking activities demonstrated by professional aritsts. Festival participants are invited to experiment with technical and creative concepts that go into creating a finished print. We are offering printmaking demos and hands-on activities in linocut, child-friendly linocut, silkscreen, and letterpress techniques. As a visitor, your will ‘Print it Yourself’ and take your very own prints home with you. This event is FREE, family-friendly, and accessible to everyone with no printmaking experience required. Come for the fun, stay for the prints!
WHAT A RELIEF! STEAMROLLER PRINTMAKING EVENT
Sunday, September 30 from 11am - 7pm
Outside Prairie Dog Brewing - 105D 58th Ave. SE, Calgary
Drop in any time during this public event to learn about printmaking from professional artists on a grand scale. A/P has teamed up with 6 local small batch breweries to have eight artists roll up their sleeves and hand carve original brewery-inspired designs into giant woodblocks. During this event, visitors will learn about relief printmaking techniques as the woodblocks are inked with large rollers and then printed with a steamroller! This event is FREE, family- friendly, and accessible to everyone with no printmaking experience required. Come for the fun, stay for the prints!
Alberta Printmakers (A/P) is a non-profit artist-run center founded in 1989 in Calgary, Alberta. The organization’s goals are to increase public awareness of print media, to engage a diverse audience, to provide resources for the artistitc community, and to provide production facilities for printmaking. A/P promotes printmaking as an evolving contemporary medium by providing artists and the public with access to production facilities, education programs, research opportunities, lectures, and exhibitions of new work.
