Monte Clark Gallery presents an exhibition of new works by Alison Yip.
Alison Yip was born in Calgary, Canada and is currently lives and works in Germany and the Netherlands. She maintains a studio-based practice and works with painting, wall treatments, and sculpture that engage various genres and styles of visual representation. Her focus moves between observing the everyday to evoking dreamlike imagery while always attending to issues of figuration. In recent years, the artist has produced a number of wall paintings that often serve as frameworks or supports, echoing more broadly the fundamental concerns and structures of painting.
Yip holds a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design, Calgary (Canada). She continued her studies at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf (Germany) and holds an MFA from the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg (Germany). Recent exhibitions include The Vancouver Art Gallery (Canada), Fanta Spazio, Milan (Italy); Kunstverein Duisburg (Germany); and Mundsburg Tower, Hamburg (Germany).
