Be one of the first to experience the latest creations from the designers, craftspeople, and artists at Alberta University of the Arts Students’ Association (AUArts SA) Spring Show + Sale March 28-30, 2019. Over 200 students will showcase 3,000+ pieces of artwork and AUArts SA anticipates this edition of Show + Sale will be biggest one yet.
Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase work representing a range of disciplines including Painting, Drawing, Glass, Jewellery and Metals, Fibre, Printmaking, Sculpture, Media Arts, Photography, Ceramics, and Design.
All of the funds raised go directly to students and their participation helps develop entrepreneurial skills with 30 per cent of AUArts graduates going on to start their own businesses.
“For 29 years, Show + Sale has offered Calgary’s emerging artists, designers and craft-makers a public platform to present their original, handcrafted work in a retail market setting,” said Joel Farris, Career Development Program Manager for AUArts SA. “Just the simple experience of having someone select student work for purchase provides validation, encouragement and momentum to their developing artistic careers.”
The First Night Fundraiser on Thursday, March 28 from 5-8 p.m. launches the event and tickets are on sale now for $25. Along with the company of like-minded art aficionados, attendees can purchase a variety of original artwork in advance, meet the artists face-to-face and enjoy food from National Beer Hall and beer from Village Brewery.
The weekend market will open Friday, March 29 from 12-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 from 12-4 p.m. and admission is by donation.
