All Things Included by Bazil (Michael Bridford-Read)
Bazil has always been very creative, using different mediums to express himself. He has developed a diverse style; incorporating an earth based palette and a vivid colourful palette. His works are generally sculptural, mixed media constructions, paintings and exquisite handmade books. These things are an expression of me and my life experiences. He has come to realize that his work has a common theme of time. His works illustrate the passage of time while comparing and contrasting the past to the present. His work shows us the unwritten history of the future. Some of his art pieces are abstract and some are concrete sequential. The viewer participating in the art will bring their own self and meanings to works; even though we experience time in the same way.
Michael Bridgford-Read, also known as Bazil, has a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours, 1994) and Bachelor of Education (with Distinctions, 1998), from the University of Manitoba. Bazil has taught publically and privately while working on his art career. His artworks are primarily sculptural assemblages, using natural materials and exhibiting influences of pre-historic and tribal cultures. Recently Bazil added painting to his repertoire of art. Bazil’s art can be seen at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Education, College of Midwives of Manitoba, Murals of Winnipeg and many private collections.
