Canada House Gallery is very proud to feature a new body of work by Bill Brownridge. Born in 1932 in Rosetown SK, Bill grew up during difficult times when hockey provided simple joy.
“Being born with cripple’s legs and unable to participate in athletics left him fascinated with all types of action. The environment into which he was born, the Canadian prairies, is cold for six months of the year and gave him a love of winter, both its shining beauty and its starkness. His brothers were great hockey players and they became Bill’s heroes and showed him the power, speed and grace of the game – a game that at its best teaches courage and selflessness. Because of the snowy landscape, he is always trying to capture the incredible moods of light and shadow on snow and the sparkle of the colours of children at play.”
