Brad Necyk "And all things of the forest Otherwise," 2019
3D-rendered inkjet photograph, 24" x 48"
Opening Reception: June 1, 2019 2 - 5 pm (Artist will be in attendance)
Many of the works in the exhibition Otherwise emerge from Brad Necyk’s residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada (2017 - 2019). Other photographs and paintings represent a turn outward from the earlier metaphors of the mind learning itself, possibly during and after trauma, to the self, unfolding beyond liminal interiors into the wider natural world. The images in all the works are not without tension, but are also of heightened beauty.
Earlier in 2019, I wrote to my daughters that each artwork we make is our philosophy of everything at that moment. It had me rethink my developing understandings of visions, consciousness, transcendence, and the collective psychological content that they pull from.- Brad Necyk from "And All of Everything"
