CALL TO ARTISTS FOR INSPIRED BY EMILY
August 27 – September 7, 2014
APPLICATIONS DUE: AUGUST 7th, 2014
Emily was an eccentric, misunderstood and incredibly talented artist that preferred painting in the woods alone to drinking tea in grand Victorian parlors. She helped create our identity as a country through the Group of Seven and is certainly BC’s most famous artist.
She is best known for her First Nations style paintings but she was also a writer, potter, illustrator, and textile artist. She had a unique style and a creative energy that was ahead of her time. We are celebrating Carr by asking you to be as adventurous and full-spirited as Emily!
If you need some inspiration we encourage you to use the Emily Carr's West Shore map available at the Coast Collective. We are looking for drawings, (including portraiture), paintings, photography, fabric art, sculpture, glass art or pottery. Any medium in 2 or 3 dimensions is acceptable. Each artist is limited to 4 entries of less than 36” in any dimension, or please contact us to discuss other possibilities if you have a special request or unique requirements
