Winchester Galleries is pleased to present an exhibition in celebration of the auspicious 2018 Chinese New Year of the Dog. To be held at our contemporary downtown gallery, the exhibition will feature work by prominent female artists from mainland China.
Including prominent artists Shen Ling, Chen Xi, Cai Jin, Yu Chen, Gao Qian, Zhang Yanzi, Peng Wei, Dong Huiping, Jiang Jie, Xiao Lu, Teng Fei, Zhang Fan, Geng Xue, Lv Yue, Ji Yujie, Cui Xiuwen, Zhou Lan, Wang Limin, Xiao Suhong, Kang Lei and Shao Yiyang, the exhibition will portray “the art philosophy and aesthetic consciousness” of contemporary Chinese female artists.
All of these works were brought to Canada in December 2017 by Poly Culture North America in collaboration with China Gauguin Culture Media Co. Ltd. of Beijing to be exhibited alongside the work of seven Canadian female artists at the Poly Gallery in Vancouver. That exhibition was designed to be part of the Canada 150 celebrations and promote a cultural exchange between China and Canada.
The 2018 Chinese New Year Exhibition will also include watercolours by Chinese artist Lifu, who is now living in Sidney, BC.
