Claire Sarfeld: Disharmony n' Flow
to
Clair Sarfield, "The Chain," 2018
acrylic on canvas, 30" x 30"
Opening Reception: Sunday, March 31, 12 to 3 pm
In Disharmony n’ Flow, Claire Sarfeld falls in love with colour all over again. Reflecting on David Hockney’s quote I don’t believe there are “off-putting” colours, the artist combines her signature bold abstract style with a unique palette. In this new series of work, Sarfeld immerses in neons and metallics, intertwining wild splashes of paint with marks made with makeshift brushes. The artist engages the viewer by offering small windows into her process while simultaneously obliterating its sight with solid, flat surfaces. Her process starts intuitively in disharmony, and through a flow of brushstrokes, finally comes into a balance. In this exhibit, one is invited to go on a visual and auditive journey, fueled by art and rock n’ roll.
