Opening Reception February 3, 1-4 PM Both the Nature Conservancy and Corrinne Wolcoski will be present to give talks on the organization and the artwork.
Corrinne Wolcoski is a nationally recognized artist based in Vancouver. Her latest collection features 14 large-scale oil paintings that document her time in River's Inlet, a remote fjord north of Vancouver Island. In this series of paintings, Wolcoski skilfully captures both the rugged majesty of an ancient land and the fragile beauty of a delicate ecosystem. She is known for her large seascapes, which are fluid and expressive with vast atmospheric skies. Wolcoski has partnered with the Nature Conservancy of Canada for this exhibition, a non-profit organization who helped her gain access to the remote location, and she hopes that her depictions of the fjord will "bring an awareness to the public about its fragile state and the importance of protecting it for the future." As a part of this partnership, a portion of all sales will be donated to the Nature Conservancy, who have already conserved 1,130 acres of ecologically sensitive land in the Inlet.
Wolcoski is a graduate of Emily Carr University and is heavily involved in the Vancouver arts community. She is a member of the Eastside Culture Crawl and was Vice President of the Emily Carr University Alumni as well as Chair of the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Gallery Committee.
