Winter scenes, were relatively rare in Western art until the early Renaissance. Winter landscapes in art history are often plein-air (working outdoors in the open air), with the artist using the thin, gray light of winter to create an appropriate atmosphere and illustrate the effect of light reflected off snow. In the mid-nineteenth century, working in natural light became particularly important to the Barbizon school, Hudson River School, and Impressionists. This exhibition Dashing Through The Snow, will feature various paintings that captured the precious moments in winter wonderlands, includes works by Carl (Jens Erik C.) Rasmussen, Frederik Rohde, Peder M. Mønsted, Hans Fischer, Thomas Harold Beament, Eric Riordon, William Percival Weston and Frederic Marlett Bell-Smith. Showing alongside this exhibition are a rotating selection of museum quality paintings, objets d’art, and antiques from Europe and North America.
