In this series of paintings,Velvet Soapbox, David Dreher is examining his own doubts regarding existing social, religious and political structures. Images evoking North American post WWII era perceptions of an overly idealized culture are presented in heightened colour, and a sarcastic light. Dreher dissects his beliefs with satire and humour in hopes of imparting to the viewer the sense that we all share this point in history - and with some understanding we may get through together.
