"Esti Mese" Sculptures from a Bedtime Story, is a series of felt characters from folk tales, legends, childhood, and motherhood. They travel from a Hungarian forest along the Danube River to the Canadian wilderness of Northern British Columbia and the Arctic.
Eszter Burghardt is a Canadian-Hungarian artist based in Vancouver BC, Canada. She has been taking part in international artist residencies in Iceland since graduating with a BFA from Emily Carr University in 2001. As an interdisciplinary artist her paintings have been exhibited across Canada and in the USA. Her photographic work began to grow in 2009 after completing an artist residency in Iceland and has been published and exhibited in Canada. Burghardt was selected as one of the Canadian winners for the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward Festival October 2010 for her original work in her "Wooly Saga" series. Her work was recently featured on CBC Arts and CBC is also currently finishing a documentary on her work which will be released soon.
