About Philip Craig
Philip Craig was born in Ottawa in 1951. Showing an early aptitude for drawing, the artist pursued his passion graduating from Sheridan College of Art and Design in 1971. By 1986, having spent a decade in Newfoundland, the artist returned to his home base in Ottawa determined to paint full time.
For the past dozen years, Craig has spent considerable time in the East Coast, Northern and Central Canada and more recently, the West. In constant pursuit of the Canadian experience, this exhibition of 35 paintings features his exploration of Lake O'Hara and Southern Alberta. Small studies complement the series of large-scale works.
Craig's paintings evoke a moment in time when the viewer connects with the paintings to experience the mountain peaks, alpine meadows and larch forests of majestic Lake O'Hara. Ranch country in Southern Alberta rivets our attention to the large-scale compositions of horses standing in the forefront of the gently receding foothills. To complete the exhibition, the artist has produced a series of western interiors and still life paintings.
Philip Craig has exhibited continuously since 1986. His paintings are collected in Canada, the US, England and around the world.
All artwork in the Exhibition is subject to pre-sale.
