The Alberta Society of Artists is excited to announce its latest exhibition, entitled New Works, on display at the Walterdale Theatre, 10322 83 Ave NW in Edmonton from May 17 to July 12, 2015. Full Members of the Alberta Society of Artists were invited to submit some of their most recent artworks to this exhibition.
Producing fresh, new artwork is a significant part of an artist’s growth. Artists are continually transforming, finding new inspiration and experimenting with a variety of techniques, forms, mediums and palettes. Whether testing their own abilities, challenging the conventions of art, or just having fun with experimentation, producing new work is a manifestation of the artist’s current perspective and self. All artwork submitted to this exhibition was produced in 2014 or 2015.
The exhibition will run in conjunction with the Walterdale Theatre’s "From the Cradle to the Stage: An Evening of New Work". From May 18th to 23rd, catch the play "Magpies" and the play "Jesus Master Builder Ltd: A Divine Comedy" at Edmonton’s longest running community theatre. Both of these plays are written by Edmonton playwrights.
It is the Alberta Society of Artists’ (ASA) mandate to foster and promote the visual arts in Alberta, to endorse the recognition of Alberta artists throughout our province, Canada and abroad. The ASA is dedicated to acting as a collective voice on issues pertaining to provincial, cultural affairs, and further, to contribute to the wellbeing of the artistic community it serves.
