"Fallen Sky"
Nora Curiston, "Fallen Sky," mixed media, dimensions variable.
Nora Curiston's sculptural installation Fallen Sky was developed during the Toni Onley Artists' Project in Wells, BC in July 2012. The title of the work suggests catastrophe, poetry, lyricism and even silliness, in keeping with the fears of Chicken Little, for example. The piece points to environmental issues in an open-ended fashion, nudging the viewer to contemplate our natural world from an alternative perspective. The "sky" in Fallen Sky looses its ephemerality becoming both heavy and jagged.
Fallen Sky opens June 20th at 7.30pm. Nora Curiston will be in attendance and will give a short artist talk at the opening.
