Calvin Yarush and Patricia Eschuk: Gardens & Growth / Jardins et croissance
to
Buhler Gallery 409 Tache Ave, St Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 2A6
Through their work, and using the garden as a metaphor, artists Calvin Yarush and Patricia Eschuk examine their physical environments and personal relationships. Both artists have powerful connections to gardens as places of growth, refuge and longing. Yarush’s encaustics, and Eschuk’s mixed media on paper and oils on canvas, are visually rich expressions of fertile earth, tangled memories and spiritual growth.
Both artists will be in attendance at a reception in their honour at the Buhler Gallery on Thursday, March 14, 7:30pm.
“The Buhler Gallery is a place of comfort, healing and contemplation.” says Director/Curator Leona Herzog, “Research indicates that engaging with the arts has positive impacts on health outcomes and general wellbeing. Similar research shows that access to gardens is linked to reduced anxiety and stress. In this context, the works of these artists take on special significance.”
Gardens & Growth: Calvin Yarush and Patricia Eschuk, will open to the public on Friday, March 15 and continue to June 23, 2019. Admission is free. For more information on the Buhler Gallery, go to www.galeriebuhlergallery.ca
