This group of paintings comes from several different bodies of work. They all engage with the landscape, offering different interpretations: subjective positions and reports of the phenomenon experienced. What starts off as simple ideas often results in complex arrangements. They alternate between actuality and imagination, as a means of capturing a sense of the energy and vitality both of the world and our experience of it. Fault Lines are structural places where unseen forces manifest themselves, this pursuit of looking for new ways to represent an experience of the landscape is an ongoing pre-occupation in my work. - Gary Evans, 2019
