This photography exhibition will present My Big Family and EMOH projects as well as new works by emerging Vancouver-based artist Hua Jin. Her photography takes the viewer on a philosophical journey, rather than providing a static view of a captured moment of reality. In her ongoing project My Big Family, Jin addresses collectivism vs. individuality, and tradition vs. contemporary Chinese society in the wake of the 1978 One-Child Policy. While in her series titled EMOH - the reversed spelling of HOME - Jin constructs concepts that confront and clash western and oriental societies and explores physical and psychological detachment. In her new Birds series, she explores the subject of the relationship between nature, animal and urban life.
