Exhibition and artist talk: Friday December 28th, 6-8pm. Exhibition: Saturday December 29th, 11am-4pm.
Bring a sense of whimsy and curiosity to Hyeojae’s exhibition, and a friend or two!
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fiber Arts, Hyeojae, from Seoul, South Korea, embarked on a freelance cartoon and illustration career in 2015, and since 2017 has completed more than 65 cartoon serials entitled Hyeo of that day.
She uses various materials and media to express her art. She shows her daily life from the perspective of a single mother through cartoons because “in South Korea I experience many prejudices against single mothers.”
Hyeojae is very happy to be an artist in residence at Caetani Cultural Centre.
The Self-Directed Artist-in-Residence program is available to artists working on creative projects anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months in length. The program is intended to serve as a conduit between regional and national artistic cultures by welcoming artists of any genre from across Canada to the North Okanagan to live, create and commune. The artist stays at the Caetani Cultural Centre and is invited to share workshops, readings and exhibitions with the North Okanagan community.
