Peripatetic Allegories will feature a broad variety of Jeff Nachtigall's studio practice, giving a greater understanding of his travels across Canada and the United States over the past few years. His pragmatic journey blurs the lines that distinguish myth and legend from a life lived and experienced. Jeff's work is draw from a variety of traditions from pop culture to post-painterly abstraction, along with digital references that reflect his formative years in the studio.
"I’m currently riffing on post-painterly abstraction and hard edge painting… it’s a mash-up that fuses low brow and punk rock sensibilities with the formal aspects of painting and practice. Equal parts Atari and Art History, these Pop art, low-res, 8-bit explorations of colour and composition reference Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, Kenneth Noland, Guido Molinari and other seminal painters of the genre." - Jeff Nachtigall
Jeff Nachtigall was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan but now hails from Montreal, Quebec.
