Lisa Lipton’s solo exhibition - Soon All Your Memories Will Be With Me is a science fiction narrative that explores the nature of human experience in relation to futurist technologies, innovation, virtual communication and space travel. Written as a homage to Harlan Ellison’s Canadian-produced science fiction series - The Starlost, from 1973, the story follows three characters as they journey through deep space in an attempt to save remaining descendants of human civilization aboard The Ship Ultimo. Drawing from Soviet Science Fiction work of the 1970s, the plot offers a subverted social critique of present day political policy, social governance and retaliation. The trajectory of human and alien encounters reveals moments of anxiety, rebellion, hope and fear that unfold within each episode. The content explores theatrics of science fiction, including prophetic warnings, utopian aspirations, strange voyages, while replacing the dominant male lead in the sci-fi genre with a female heroine.
