Welcome to Pandamensional!
This is my first solo exhibition and I wanted it to be about sharing the exploratory process and growth I went through as I created this world and brought this show to life.
Drawing on inspiration from music and the energy of emotion and experience I reveal that inner world through my work which consists of bold flowing lines and vibrant colours that allow the eye to lose itself in the movement of patterns hidden within.
Using these pieces I want to take you on a journey to see the flora and fauna I have created. I hope you will meet many characters and see places, both new and familiar, all expressed through the lens of the Pandamensional reality! - Pink Panda
Pink Panda, Artist Biography, 2019
Pink Panda (Cat Hues) is a visual artist from Winnipeg. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Manitoba. She is a freelance graphic designer with over a decade of experience and is now pursuing her true passion of painting and drawing.
She has been experimenting with her style with a variety of mediums including chalk, acrylics, spray paint and uv reactive paint. Leveraging her background in design, she is expanding into apparel, stickers and prints.
Street art has always been a strong influence and inspiration for Pink Panda and she has spent the past few years working to get involved in the local scene. The most recent of these efforts was the completion of a 720 square foot mural for the Transcona Biz. When not painting murals or selling her art at various events, she spends the spring and summer months leaving chalk drawings to be found around the city and performing live painting “pop-up” installations. The leaving of temporary art is something significant to Pink Panda as it helps her keep her mantra “Be in the moment” in focus and practice letting go.
Recently Pink Panda has had the opportunity to work as a guest artist for a small number of youth/adult programs in Winnipeg and surrounding communities. This is a relatively new endeavor and she looks forward to becoming involved on a regular basis in the near future.
She has worked and collaborated with clients that include: CREATE, Electric Donkey Run, DRAFT Skateboards, Third + Bird, Transcona Biz, PEG Beer Co., Open Outline, Macdonald Youth Services, Studio Central/Artbeat Studio, Cosplay For A Cause, Inspire Community Outreach and the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
