S. P. Cook, "Untitled," 2018
Opening Friday, 5 January 2018 6-9 pm
Library Gallery (AKA L’Briary) is pleased to host the first solo exhibition of paintings by S. P. Cook, a Winnipeg-based artist and musician.
Cook has a colourful history. He was born in Louisiana and orphaned at an early age, taking up guitar as a child, drinking muddy water and sleeping in hollow logs. He carried his guitar in a gunnysack.
Cook was adopted by a Royal Canadian Air Force family as a teenager and relocated to Winnipeg.
Cook’s gift for painting is a recent revelation, and has become an outlet for thinking through a lifetime of trauma.
This exhibition has been curated by Tannis Kohut.
