The Ferry Building Gallery is pleased to present Surfaces, a mixed media exhibition that showcases artwork by four local artists, Guy Hollington, Bob Leier, Nikoo Nikpeikaran, and Vicki Peters.
Guy Hollington started blowing glass as a result of an off-hand comment that glass blowing should be on his bucket list. What started with a one-evening-a-week course for six short weeks, turned into a full-time passion that has eclipsed his former consulting work. Guy finds glass a medium that is difficult and frustrating to work with, but at the same time mesmerizing and challenging.
Bob Leier was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He pursued studies in radio and television production before moving to Vancouver to join an innovative creative team as visual director. Through his experiments in photography, he aims to transform the common and everyday into the unexpected to produce unique visual effects.
Nikoo Nikpeikaran thinks of herself as a visionary artist with a diverse background. Her perspective is infused in the depth of eastern art and moving toward modern fine art. She started painting from the age of four and paints intuitively, adding, removing, layering and blending until the seen and the unseen harmonize with her spirit and resonate with her soul.
Vicki Peters’ artistic career started with a visit to the Vancouver Art Gallery. Seeing the old masters art works, she immediately felt a kinship with the richness and depth of their works. After processing what she saw, she soon picked up a brush and began experimenting with colour, shape and texture.
