ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Artist Tod Emel will be working in the Kenderdine Art Gallery as the artist-in-residence from Jan 15 - Feb 14. Visitors are welcome to stop in the gallery and engage with the artist during this process.
Tod Emel: A Forest explores the impact of the recent mountain pine beetle epidemic on pine forests in central British Columbia. The epidemic is a study in the unintended consequences resulting from human intervention in complex natural systems. Reflecting on the similarities between pine beetle markings and his own artistic processes, Emel explores these connections in this new body of low-relief carved panel drawings.
