Tracey Nelson: "Walls of Intrigue and Cabinets of Curiosity"
to
REMAI MODERN 102 Spadina Crescent E, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 0L3
Victoria artist Trace Nelson has mobilized the nostalgic affection for handcrafted sock monkeys into a compelling study of DIY cultures, collecting, crafting, play theory, and the links between culture, nature and technology. The installation centres on monkey-like creatures in various media and sizes. This ambitious body of work grew from Nelson’s 2008 project to construct 100 sock monkeys. Helen Marzolf curated the exhibition, organized by Open Space artist-run centre, Victoria.
