The Vancouver Art Gallery presents a career survey exhibition of BC-based artist Mowry Baden. The Governor General’s Award-winner is known internationally for his participatory sculpture and installation works, many of which have been commissioned as public artworks by cities across North America.
Influenced by fields of perceptual psychology, science and architecture, Mowry Baden’s works incorporating objects both found and constructed incite curiosity, wonder and often laughs from viewers. From seat belts and reconfigured industrial devices, to purpose-built rooms in which ping-pong balls ricochet off the walls, this exhibition promises to take viewers out of their everyday experience.
