Vancouver Cantonese Opera will present the 2017 Cantonese Opera Festival on February 11 and 12, 2017 (Saturday & Sunday) at the Norman Rothstein Theatre, 950 West 41 Ave., Vancouver, B.C., at 1 P.M. For ticket reservations, please call Rosa Cheng at 604-764-8181
This is to showcase selected arias from the Cantonese operatic repertoire. The performances consist of lyrical arias accompanied by traditional Chinese instruments. Performers adorn themselves with elaborated tailored costumes with their signature Chinese opera painted face. The opera arias were written from rhythmical poetry and the librettos were adapted from well-known Chinese works of literature.
