Deer Lake Gallery 6584 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby, British Columbia V5G 3T7
Worlds of Wonder is an exhibition that will be held at the Deer Lake Art Gallery featuring the works of Nancie Green, Lynne Fahnestalk. Worlds of Wonder is hosted and organized by the Burnaby Arts Council.
Fahnestalk is a professional illustrator and cartoonist who makes robot sculptures from up-cycled metal objects. Her cartooning background paved the way for her robot obsession. No welding or gluing is involved; nuts, bolts, screws and washers hold them together. The original character of each element remains untouched adding to the humoristic character of each piece. Fahnestalk is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Canadian Prix Aurora Award for Artistic Achievement and has shown her work in galleries and at major science fiction convention art shows where she has received numerous awards. Lynne lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Green is a 3rd Generation Vancouverite who has been involved with and surrounded by art her whole life. After discovering photography and computer manipulation of photos as well as the digital medium she was hooked and has since created endless robots as well as dramatic otherworldly imagery. The artist and the technician merge to go beyond the boundaries of reality and take us to a place where dreams materialize into artwork.
