There’s an Alex Colville quality to the natural landscapes of Mong Yen, on exhibition in Quiet Path at Coquitlam’s Place des Arts February 10 to March 5. Dotted with solitary man-made objects, they have a sense of quiet and windswept distance in them. Originally from Cambodia, Mong arrived in Canada via refugee camps in Vietnam, and now spends his time painting unexpected landscapes around his Coquitlam home.
