Gallery@501 is pleased to present Tracing Days by Toronto artist Jennifer Long and Calgary artist and author Shea Proulx.
This exhibition brings together the work of two artists who explore creative and relatable expressions of daily life. Long and Proulx feature personal stories and family members in their work to record snapshots in time of meaningful memories and beauty in moments of daily domestic life.
Jennifer Long examines the complicated intergenerational mother-daughter relationship and its connection to memories evoked by light, textures and gestures in her photographs. Designed specifically for the Gallery@501 space, Long’s installation of artwork will span across the walls and floor for a unique viewing experience for visitors.
Shea Proulx explores the creative power that hides in moments while observing her children in shared public spaces, recreation facilities and even at the dentist. Proulx’s paintings, sketchbooks and several of her published books will be on display.
This exhibit features a collaborative installation piece in the Gallery window created by Long and Proulx and a hands-on creative drawing activity within the exhibit. With consideration of new viewpoints to see the sometimes “unseen,” visitors will find connection and artistic inspiration within this exhibit.
