The Alberta Society of Artists is proud to present the solo exhibition A Way Through the World featuring the work of Alberta artist Lori Sokoluk.
“This series of monotypes evokes many methods we use to find our way through our lives: stories we hear, fables we believe in, maps and prior experiences we reference, and the courage and inner willingness to try new directions. The relatively small scale of the work necessitates an intimacy from the viewer that reflects the very personal nature of each individual’s journey. Uneven vignette edges on many of the pieces evoke ideas of maps, torn leaves, and plein air watercolours I’ve done over the years. Titles speak of fairy tales, dreams and memories that influence our perception and choices.”
The Alberta Society of Artists is the oldest society of juried professional artists in the province, providing art education and exhibitions in public venues since 1931. The Society’s goal is to increase public awareness and appreciation of the visual arts in Alberta.
Artist-led workshop at the gallery on Saturday, June 29.
