In the Quiet of Leaves is a nature-inspired abstract acrylic painting workshop that invites participants to slow down, observe, and express the subtle beauty of the natural world. Through guided creative exploration, participants will transform textures, colours, and sensations from the outdoors into expressive, intuitive artworks — no experience needed, just an open heart.

Tara Vahab is a multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary, working across painting, sculpture, installation, murals, and performance. With a practice that began in childhood, she has created over 300 artworks and exhibited internationally, including with the State Hermitage Museum in Russia.

Tara's work blends research and intuition, often drawing on bright colours, pattern-making, found objects, and newspaper to explore themes of empathy, transformation, and the metaphysical. Conceptual and surreal in style, their art reflects a deep belief in the power of creativity to foster emotional intelligence and social connection.

In 2015, Tara founded LOUD Art Society, a nonprofit that promotes mental health and wellbeing through art. Through public projects, workshops, and accessible education, she continues to champion the role of the arts in a diverse and multicultural society.

At the heart of Tara's practice is a commitment to learning, community engagement, and creating work that invites reflection, healing, and joy.
