Abstract: Design Showcase Invitation
Opening Reception: Friday, November 3, 6-9 pm. Artists in attendance.
Design is often about planning, solving a problem and communicating. While abstract art is in it’s most basic is an expression; creating a problem to be solved, and perhaps felt. Both abstract art and design deal primarily with many of the same aesthetic visual elements, such as colour, line, shape, texture & space. And, when abstract art and design come together often a perfect balance is born, that desired push-and-pull effect is achieved, and everything comes alive!
This exhibition features eleven of Kimoto Gallery’s most popular abstract artists; Scott Sueme, Christine Breakell-Lee, Sara Genn, Mark Ollinger, Claire Sarfeld, Yorke Graham, Veronica Plewman, Michael Soltis, Kari Kristensen, Christian Nicolay and Katsumi Kimoto. Each driven by their own authentic styles and innovative art practices, this curated exhibition showcases artwork that was inspired by modern trends in design and contemporary interiors.
The artworks on display include a variety of mediums such as acrylic paintings, resin, laser-cutting, linocut & serigraphs prints, mixed media which incorporates photography & typography, and sculptural works from reclaimed metal.
