ACAD Students’ Association + ACAD open their doors with an expanded offering to spruce up your home or office
Come see what Alberta’s emerging young artists have created at Alberta College of Art + Design Students’ Association (ACADSA) Spring Show + Sale from March 23-25, 2017. The Show + Sale welcomes the public to view and purchase over 3,000 pieces of handmade art from more than 200 artists. All proceeds support the ACAD student body.
“The Show + Sales are the largest community-building events that the Students’ Association offers. It’s a special opportunity for our student artists to share their work with the larger Calgary community and build relationships with the local creative industry and private patrons alike,” said Joel Farris, Career Development Coordinator with ACADSA. “Each Show + Sale has a tremendous sense of creativity and comradery as students from every department within the school come together to collaborate and support one another. With over 200 students showcasing their work in the Spring 2017 Show + Sale, we anticipate this to be one of the most successful celebrations of student talent we’ve ever hosted.”
The sale kicks off with the First Night Fundraiser on Thursday, March 23 from 5-8 p.m. Admission is $25 and along with the company of like-minded community art supporters, attendees receive advance access to a wide variety of original artwork and the opportunity meet the artists. Admission is by donation on Friday, March 24 from 12-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 25 from 12 p.m.- 4 p.m.
Support Alberta’s emerging artists by purchasing work representing a range of the institution’s programs including painting, drawing, glass, fibre, printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramics, and jewellery and metals. This a prime opportunity for ACAD students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and profit from selling what they make with 30 per cent of ACAD graduates going on to pursue their own entrepreneurial work.
