This exhibition is the culmination of years of research and activity along the foreshore of the Fraser River Delta by Ladner-based artist Amy-Claire Huestis. It celebrates our kinship with birds, the interconnectedness of all things, and the importance of ecological areas currently under threat due to human development.
In 2022, Huestis and a group of community collaborators led a site-specific procession/performance in the Key Biodiversity Area of Hwuli’tth’um (Brunswick Point in Ladner), an area of critical ecological importance for migratory birds within the Fraser River Estuary, in the ancestral and present-day lands of the Coast Salish Peoples.
At Richmond Art Gallery, the artist presents new art work and documentation from the original performance while also welcoming the public to participate in new actions at the gallery and along Richmond’s foreshore.
