"Psalm 122:7" acrylic on wood panel 18" x 48"
Inscriptions – texts expressed formally or otherwise in different alphabets or languages – are a major source of inspiration for my paintings.
The aim of the collection in this exhibition is to visually express texts related to Jewish beliefs and culture, most in the Hebrew alphabet or transliterated Hebrew using the Roman alphabet. Writings have been selected from Psalms, Jewish writers, composers, or citizens. For example: Franz Kafka, Leonard Bernstein, or victims of the Holocaust. - Ken Hughes
