Andrew S. Hiebert: Right Side
to
Fleet Galleries 65 Albert Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1G4
Andrew S. Hiebert, "My Right Side," 2009
acrylic on canvas, 12" x 18"
The show is based on the painting 'My Right Side' that is an allegorically abstract self portrait. The show will have a wall of abstract work opposite a wall of impressionist work, ~12 pieces per wall. Besides highlighting the two style genres, the physical arrangement of the pieces will nudge people to realize their preferred style. The notion of 'right side' also makes reference to the right hemisphere of the brain where popular culture has placed the creative abilities of the mind.
Andrew S. Hiebert, "It's Not Just Where You Stand, It's Also Where You Sit," 2018
acrylic on canvas, 20" x 30"
The 'Right Side' project began when a friend with an autistic child asked him to paint a picture to represent the beauty and struggle of their lives. Hiebert created a large scale work which became a powerful abstract allegory of their story. Since that initial project, he has worked with ever increasing zeal to create visually powerful poems, connecting what is RIGHT within all of us
Andrew S. Hiebert is a self taught emerging artist. He lives in Winnipeg with his wife and two children. Although he has been a physics & chemistry teacher for half his life, he has always been an artist at heart. His work has been purchased by patrons across western Canada. Hiebert has participated in numerous group exhibitions, and has had his work selected for several Manitoba Society of Artists OJCE shows.
"Right Side" at Fleet Galleries (Aug 2-30, 2018) is his premier solo show. It is a curated exhibition of his decade-long passion project, and his public debut into the artistic community.
