Andrew S. Hiebert, "Nevertheless Peace," 2022
We are in a liminal time of personal upheaval, economic uncertainty, pandemic, and the war in Ukraine. So much is in flux and no one can be certain as to where it will end up. There is so much anxiety.
I have been thinking a lot about this lately and I’ve been wondering, is it possible to nevertheless have peace?
Can a person have peace without personal or financial stability? Can a plant grow flowers without water or soil?
The answers to these questions seem to be an obvious ‘no’
and yet…
…the waxed bulb amaryllis can do it, people I know do it, and people I’ve read about have been able to do it. I know it is possible. The art in this exhibition is inspired by things without voice that speak to those who make listening a choice. I have listened to the Amaryllis, the hydrangea, the waterlily, and pines. I have learned much. I have learned that peace, like art, works from the inside out. It can exist in the midst of the most contrary circumstances. This kind of inner peace needs to be deliberately fostered in our hearts. It grows through gratitude, appreciation & contemplation, and pays emotional and relational dividends in and out of season.
The art in this show is designed for people in the midst of personal and or financial upheaval who, nevertheless, seek to foster their inner peace. Let there be peace.

His relationship with art began as a therapeutic release and has now grown into a disciplined professional practice. He paints because ideas within in him demand to be brought into the world.
Hiebert’s art is bold, metaphorical, and captivating.
