Darren McRae, "On the Lake Oesa Shoreline," 2018
acrylic on canvas, 30" x 24"
Originally from Charlottetown, P.E.I., Darren McRae is an established Calgary artist who has been painting Canada's natural beauty for almost forty years. His extensive travels across our country have inspired him to capture the variety of colours and changing geographical textures found in the various regions. Alberta is especially appealing to him due to its diverse landscape and has been the focus of his work over the past decade.
Acrylics on canvas dominate the collection of his work. The versitile medium allows him to use thin layers of paint to achieve an air of luminosity in his paintings. His goal: to portray the raw beauty of Canada in a “non-static” approach with colours in a higher key.
He feels privileged to have his work on the walls of homes and offices around North America.
All works are available for pre-show sale; viewable on our website starting February 5, 2018.
