Opening Reception: Saturday, July 20th, from 1 to 3 PM
What Trickles Through showcases works of three artists, each of whom began their artistic journey in their country of origin before immigrating to Canada. This exhibition highlights the art they have created in Canada, far from their birthplaces, reflecting a blend of cultural heritage and new influences.
Featured Artists:
Ortansa Moraru: Born in Romania, Ortansa arrived in Canada in 2002. Her works explore themes of identity and displacement, drawing on her experiences of migration and adaptation.
Mahmoud Meraji: Mahmoud, born in Iran, moved to Canada in 1998. His art delves into the complexities of cultural integration and the merging of Eastern and Western artistic traditions.
Ashley Johnson: Originally from South Africa, Ashley relocated from Johannesburg to Toronto in 2005. His pieces often focus on themes of transformation and the impact of geographical and cultural shifts.
All three artists are now Canadian citizens, and their works in What Trickles Through reflect their diverse backgrounds and the unique perspectives they bring to the Canadian art scene.
