I’m Baby
(a series of infinite limitations)
On view from July 25 to August 2, this thoughtful and tender exhibition is all about memory, motherhood, and the quiet beauty of textile scraps. Each piece in the series is roughly baby blanket-sized and titled after one of the most popular baby names from 2005—the year Hammond’s son was born. They gesture toward themes of motherhood, identity, and cultural patterns.
Hammond, a seasoned weaver and founder of Domestic Intervention Company, works with offcuts from her own weaving projects—scraps she sees not as leftovers, but as meaningful markers of time and labour. These handwoven fragments are sewn into collage-like compositions that evolved slowly, as the right pieces came together. The result? A series of works that feel both deeply personal and quietly political.
What happens when a baby blanket becomes a work of art? And what does it mean to make something soft and comforting in a time of social and political uncertainty? Corrina invites you to explore those questions—whether you’re drawn in by the textures, the titles, or the impulse to reach out and touch.
Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, July 26 from noon to 4 PM.
