"My art practice is the coming together of a keen eye, the beautiful natural world, and a love for the pure elements of paint on a surface. I love to look at and explore the world, and then re-look and re-explore. Barbara Ballachey's art career spans five decades and during that time she has exhibited internationally and participated in many workshops and residencies around the globe: New York, Africa, China, Iceland, France and  Emma Lake.  Although her work is landscape based, she assimilates abstract color field elements with mark making to create a compositionally complex painting, superior work informed by her accumulated knowledge of an experienced art practice.
